Ailurophile Cat Sitting & Home Care is home to a passionate and experienced team of professional cat sitters. Our sitters are experienced in feline behavior and skilled in handling shy, elderly, or medically complex cats.
First and foremost, as a professional cat sitting business, we are dedicated to you and your cat. We love and understand cats and treat your cat and home like our own. Your cat is our highest priority and our service is built on being reliable, responsible, and responsive. Our work ethic is strong and we show up consistently within the requested time frame to complete the daily visits and communicate in each visit update how your cat is doing and any relevant information you may want to know about. Another important element of being professionals is that we are fully insured and bonded if any accidents happen while we care for your kitty and home.
We have experienced cat sitters trained to know when a cat may not be feeling his or her best and can monitor their behavior to know when a trip to the vet may be needed.
Friends, family and neighbors may offer to check on your cat for free and the thought may be enticing, but the personalized care and quality we give to our cat clients is truly a unique service. You can leave home with confidence that everything is taken care of and will be handled professionally. It is our job to be sure you are satisfied with our cat sitting service to ensure we are creating a lasting relationship. I’ve had plenty of cat sitting clients over the years express how they would never go back to using a friend, family or neighbor due to the unreliability of this type of arrangement and the burden it can create when constantly asking them for this favor.
It’s simple – we know cats – that is our specialty! From awareness and knowledge of their illnesses and health concerns to recognizing their unique behaviors, we are the cat sitting experts of Longmont, Colorado. Oftentimes, while working with cat sitting clients, we hear their experience of hiring pet sitting companies with more dog-oriented sitters who prefer dogs to cats so they didn’t have a bond or natural interest and understanding of these animals. The cats were secondary to the dog care. At Ailurophile Cat Sitting and Home Care we are just the opposite and exclusively service only cats. Many clients tell us how excited they are to have found a cat sitting focused company.
We are insured and bonded through the Business Insurers of the Carolinas and are current members of Pet Sitters International. We are currently in the process of becoming a Certified Professional Pet Sitter.
Cats LOVE to stay in their own home. They attach to their space (especially by scent) as though they are “married” to your home. Keeping their usual daily routine intact is paramount to their psychological well-being. Don’t believe us? Spend a day observing your cat, and you’ll notice that they do the same things around the same time EVERY day.
Boarding facilities and cat hotels stress cats out tremendously. They endure unnecessary travel trauma in the dreaded carrier to get to the facility. They are then put into a small cage or “hotel” room where they reside almost daily. Sound cozy? The stress triggers at these facilities can manifest anxiety disorders with your cat, such as decreased appetite, diarrhea, obsessive fur grooming, and other behavioral problems. They also are exposed to fleas, worms, and other parasites that other animals at the facility may have. Then, they must use a “rental” litter box that is unrecognizable for them by scent. And when you pick them up, they will be miserable and likely stay that way for the next few hours or longer when back home.
On the other hand, with drop-in cat sitting visits in your home, your cat gets to stay in their familiar, comforting environment. They can play with their favorite toys, sleep in their favorite bed, and soak up the sun in their favorite sunny window. They also get to use their usual litter box—something that is much more important than one would think! The icing on the cake is that they get total cat care tailored to their tastes and desires. There is no competition with other foreign cats in the home. You get to meet the person who will be exclusively caring for your cat and they will provide to you daily visit updates with pictures of your cat too. Plus, you get the added benefit of having someone there to keep an eye on your home and property, giving it a lived-in appearance and taking care of such things as mail retrieval, plant watering, and adjusting the lights and shades. The bottom line is that you can relax on your vacation, having the peace of mind that your cat is comfortable at home. Best of all, you get to come home to a kitty that is happy and excited to greet you at the door!
At the initial visit, we will get a physical copy of the key (if that is needed for your home – sometimes clients have electronic door key pads) to keep on file for the scheduled visits and any future visits. If you prefer to keep the key in a lockbox on the property for us to use during the scheduled visits that is acceptable as well.
We create the “lived in” look while you’re away meaning we can alternate the lights and blinds/curtains, bring in packages and mail, take your trash/recycling cans to the curb and back, and keep an eye on your property and home to be sure no emergencies arise.
Yes. We are happy to give a few plants water. However, if the watering process becomes more involved and time consuming such as needing larger gardens watered or a large quantity of pots, we do charge extra since it will require more of the cat sitter’s time / effort.
Absolutely not! The sitter will stay for the full time no matter the behavior of the cat unless the client has specifically stated otherwise. That’s our goal – to connect with your cat and hopefully allow them to be comfortable and enjoy our time there to socialize and interact. We do respect the cat’s temperament and allow him or her to come out and be curious on their own accord. We know how cats operate and always offer our attention but do not force or pressure them.
We are not cat behaviorists but can refer you to local area professionals that specialize in that field.
NO! Again, absolutely not! One of the biggest stereotypes about cats is their independent nature and the need to be on their own. Yes, they are more independent than dogs, but that does not mean humans don’t need to look out for them. They are living beings requiring care and can and do develop life threatening illnesses when not checked on at least once a day. Cats need the daily routine of feeding and attention just as any creature does and the thought of leaving them alone is truly heartbreaking.

This varies, but normally we make visits to your home for your cat’s care 1-2 times daily depending on their needs. If you have a medical need for more visits we are always happy to tailor to each specific situation. We offer 30 minute and 60 minute visits. If you want to mix and match services such as alternating days with an hour visit we can also do that so that your cat gets more time. We also offer overnight cat sits upon request.

Our morning visits occur between the hours of 8:00-11:00 AM. Anytime visits are 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Evening visits are 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. We do not guarantee an exact time for the visits unless a specific medical reason exists where we would need to do that and work rather in blocks of time to complete the scheduled cat visits.

When you contact us regarding your cat sitting needs we will want a few details to be sure you are a good fit for what we offer and then we will set up an initial visit to come out to meet you and your cat. At this initial visit, we will have you review their care routine with us and walk us through the home to see their food, water, litter box, any medications, toys, favorite hiding places, etc. Any pertinent information that will help us to provide the highest quality care for your cat while you’re away is important to review at this meeting. The initial visit normally takes about 30 minutes and is normally scheduled about a week or two after you first contact us to schedule.
In addition to the initial visit set up, you will also set up an account with our preferred pet sitting client portal “Time to Pet”. This is where you will complete all of your details, your cat’s care profile, emergency contacts, veterinarian information, etc. It is also where you will schedule service and receive / pay invoices. We leave the daily visit updates in the messaging feature and you can see pics and communicate with us there anytime!
We totally understand how difficult it is to be away from your beloved feline family member and wonder how they are managing with you away from home! That is why your sitter will always send you a detailed daily visit update summarizing such things as how your cat is doing (appetite, mood, energy level), what they enjoyed doing that day (playtime, brushing, petting), the status of your home, and any questions or concerns that came up in the process of the cat sitting visits. Perhaps best of all, your sitter will send you pictures or videos of your cat as well! Our industry-leading pet sitting app conveniently allows these to be sent as a text, email, and push notification on your phone. Given that these updates are stored securely in our system, you can review them anytime you want. You can even stay in constant contact with your sitter by corresponding directly with them in the app anytime you like. All this also gives you the peace of mind that your cat sitter is arriving each day and staying engaged with your cat.

All of our cat sitters are committed to the safety and well-being of your cat. Should your cat become sick or injured, your sitter will first try contacting you to discuss the appropriate course of action for the protection, health, and safety of your cat. If they cannot immediately reach you, the sitter will take your cat to the nearest emergency vet hospital immediately and contact you ASAP to discuss the situation. The sitter will always be in continuous contact with you in these types of situations.
We are not veterinarians, but we do have experience of what types of foods are best for your cat. We can recommend the higher quality cat food brands to look for and the health reasons behind why we support certain types of diet. We can also recommend websites that will give you good informative advice on these types of issues.
